It's the most wonderful time of the year, and everywhere you turn there are potential customers and clients looking for ways to enjoy the season with their families. Featuring your new holiday products or offering sales are great ideas but - C'mon now - everyone is doing that! If you want to attract new customers this holiday season, it's time to get creative, open your doors and spread a little Christmas cheer... from the inside out. What do I mean by that? Host an in-house holiday event!
Here are 5 great holiday events that will help you attract new customers without breaking your end-of-the-year marketing budget.
1. Plan A Tree Lighting
Tree lighting events are a lot of fun, but the large-scale events hosted in downtown areas or popular holiday venues are crowded, noisy and not always the optimal space for family-friendly visitors. If you really want to wow your potential audience this holiday season, invite the local community to a tree lighting event at your location, but be sure to make it family friendly. Include hot apple cider, snacks, holiday music and a great discount for visitors who attend, because rest assured that when it's time to escape the chilly outdoors, your storefront cozy retreat will be waiting.
2. Setup A Hot Cocoa Bar
Use social media to reach your local audience and announce that your location will offer a hot cocoa bar all season long! Whether you are a clothing boutique, real estate office, pet groomer or hair salon, you should never underestimate the powers of warm chocolate and mini marshmallows. We're not saying that this ongoing event will sway someone who has never been to your location before to make the trip, but when you are a small business owner word-of-mouth means everything. Treat your current clients well, and you are bound to see an influx of their friends, family members, and neighbors visit you at your coca loving client's request this holiday season.
3. Give A Little Bit Back To the Community
Show the community that you are not just there to make a few extra sales this holiday season, but are passionate about giving back. Link up with a local charity or non-profit organization to host a coat drive for a women's shelter or set up an angel tree from which customers can identify a less fortunate child in need of gifts this holiday season. A marketing strategy like this is the best kind because it proves to be the most fulfilling. Not only are you opening your doors to potential new customers, but you are opening your heart to those who could use a little something extra this Christmas.
4. Throw a Holiday Themed Business After Hours Event
This type of event will prove to be the most costly on my list, but if done correctly: It will be well worth it. Reach out to your local Chamber of Commerce and let them know you would like to invite your fellow small business owners to an after-hours event. (You can also invite your loyal customers because, again, word-of-mouth is vital during the holidays). A themed event is always fun (you can't go wrong with ugly Christmas sweaters). Send out invitations and be sure to have the event catered out with plenty of hors-d'oeuvres and bubbly. The goal is to schedule the event for around close of business so that you are catching influencers on their way home from work, but don't forget to let your clients know you'll be locking up early via social media! Then have fun networking, mingling and distributing coupons to your new valued customers. (You could even give everyone two so that they can pass one off to a friend!)
5. Bring In The Big Guy
Yes, we mean Santa. No holiday season is complete without a photo op with Santa, so give your customers what they want! All you need is one Santa costume (here is a great one on Amazon Prime), an employee, friend or family member willing to dress-up, a box of candy canes and a photographer. Use social media to invite your customers (and potential customers) to stop by with the kids to receive their complimentary photo with Santa! Talk about a great way to bring new folks through the front door!
And that's it! Five event ideas that are sure to attract new customers this holiday season. Of course, events are only as good as the number of people who attend and that's where we come in! Let us help you amplify your event this seasons using social media, pay-per-click advertising, local event platforms and more! We can ensure that your next marketing event is a success while growing your following across on social platforms.
